YouParkLikeAnAsshole.com

Hey folks! Thanks to my friend Adrian, I found a really useful website that shares a similar objective as ours.

If you have a printer handy, download the notices on that site and educate these rude parking offenders in the best way possible!

And for those offenders reading this blog, it's time to wake up from your self-inflicted nightmare.

Letter to Mr Lim Lip Eng

Please regard this as a brief intermission from our usual Bad Malaysian Drivers posting.

I have written to the MP for my constituency, Mr. Lim Lip Eng, in regards to the traffic jam at TTDI (towards the Sprint highway) during peak hours.

Here's what I wrote:

--------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Mr Lim,

I'm sure you know well about the traffic jam as mentioned in the subject line.
This is not going to be an email rant because I know the reason for the jam is because of the current construction works on the LDP.

However, I would like to find out if the traffic police can be deployed on a more consistent manner to ensure that the traffic jamcan be cleared during peak hours. I found them to be very useful during the evenings but I have not seen them lately. Perhaps we can persuade them to deploy more consistently and even during the morning peak hours, unless of course they have limited resources available to them.

What do you think? Are the traffic police a feasible temporary solution?

Thanks!
Leon Lau

--------------------------------------------------------------

And this is what he wrote back - an admirably fast response :)

--------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Mr Lau,

I agree with u. I will highlight the matter with traffic cop department.

Thanks.

--------------------------------------------------------------

With this email, I have high hopes that the traffic situation will be eased, and therefore we can see some improvement in driving attitude on Malaysian roads.

WGL 7100 - Colour-blind Motorcyclist

Looks like we have another case of selective colour-blindness.

WGL 7100 - the colour-blind motorcyclist. He was looking back frequently but evidently not aware of me prepping up my camera for a shot. I had already anticipated that this fool would beat the red light, and I anticipate more BMDOTDs to make a cameo at this spot (TTDI traffic light turning to Naza).

WFF 712 - Proton Iswara

Caught Mr Ah Beng in the act!

WFF 712 - Off-white Proton Iswara cruising along the LDP, at first glance looking innocuous.

Upon further inspection (and highlighted by a fellow passenger), I come to realize that this young chap was playing with his phone while driving with one hand. He mighta been messaging his girlfriend, telling her that he's on the way and that he's da man for being able to drive & sms at the same time.

Till next time, Ah Beng.

CCL 33 - White Audi Q7

No pictures of the BMDOTD this time. Boy, was I disappointed because this guy was a marvelous piece of work.

CCL 33 - White Audi Q7. A 4WD fresh off the market and ready to make menace on the KL-Karak Highway. Going so close to my rear-end that I could see the piece of meat lodged between the driver's yellow-stained teeth.

These tail-gater folks just don't understand that I can't move to the slower lane because there's cars passing by. Are they intending to cause an accident for their own benefit? In any case this guy managed to zig-zag the road albeit putting other drivers in danger as well.

HWC 2739 - Red Proton Iswara Taxi

Yup, no surprises here. Yawn.

HWC 2739 - Red Proton Iswara Taxi. Just loving the yellow box. The driver musta figured, "Why not? Since parking at TTDI market is susah wan, I might as well makit worse..."

WKQ 2946 - Beige Inokom Hyundai Atos

Welcome to the CNY edition! Year of the Tiger: new beginnings, same shitty drivers.

WKQ 2946 - A beige coloured Inokom Atos, another case of "emergency for no cause" here.

Don't be fooled by the reduced frequency of blog posts of late; there are still plenty of mad drivers out there. It's just that I've been having a tough time catching them on camera or remembering their license plate number - the kind of details necessary for a decent write-up.

This Atos driver ain't so bad compared to the others I've seen but unable to catch. Oh well...better luck next time (for him and for me).

ACV 9012 - White Proton Wira (What's that yellow thing?)

It was way too easy catching this person in the act.

ACV 9012 - A whitish silver Proton Wira parked on a part of the road that's supposed to be used for driving. As you can see, there are many offenders in this respect.

The reason I chose this idiot was because he chose to disobey the rules and park where you're not supposed to - blocking that thing called a FIRE HYDRANT!

WPH 7551 - Silver Proton Waja (Road-bully/Lane-cutter)

No pictures this time around as I had to be extra careful with the presence of this road-bully lane-cutter.

WPH 7551 - Silver Proton Waja, hellbent on getting his way. Finding a meter of space between my car and the car in front of me, he chooses to squeeze in from the left-lane regardless of me.

At first, I chose to regard it as a blind-side mistake on his part and gave him a tweet of my horn. He took it as a war cry: putting his right signal and immediately shoving himself further to either create space for his car or wipe me off the road.

I chose my life, but not without blaring my honk silly at his face. Bye and good luck with life Mister.

BEH 3739 - Blue Proton Wira ("emergency for no cause")

Another Malaysian driver that's in a hurry over nothing.

BEH 3739 - Blue Proton Wira. I should also mention WQW 5664 - Black Proton Saga as a joint offender, but unfortunately I did not manage to catch both of them in the act.

Both of 'em finding plenty of space on the left side of the road, choosing to forget that it was an emergency lane, and stupidly missing the fact that the left lane (including the emergency lane was blocked due to roadworks). And of course, I try to stay away from foolish drivers 'cos that's how accidents happen to innocent people in Malaysia.

HWD 1973 - Proton Waja Taxi

Another taxi makes center stage. Expect a lot more of them to frequent the blog (I apologize to innocent taxi drivers out there but I can't help being prejudice in my statement above. Please encourage your colleagues to prove me wrong).

HWD 1973 - Red & White Proton Waja Taxi. Furiously speeding and upon seeing the red light, he decided to park his car on the forbidden yellow box.

After uploading this pic, I just noticed that the motorcyclist was at fault too!

ADS 4044 & ADR 7468 - Twin trouble

I seriously doubt that no Malaysian driver has seen this trick before.

ADS 4044 & ADR 7468 - Motorcyclists parading their stunts yet again. 4044, I know you're trying to help your friend to get to his destination. But rules are rules, and in the case of road laws it is not meant to be broken.

BET 1 - the obnoxious black Mercedes-Benz

Another case of tail-gating observed (and suffered on my part).

License plate number: BET 1 - the obnoxious black Mercedes-Benz (I believe was the E-Class). Again, I was subjected to this abuse at Federal Highway even when I was driving at 100kph on the right lane. Mr. Rich Guy decided to add some flavour to his torment by flashing his headlights furiously.

Of course, I will take my time in moving aside, knowing that I am following the speed limit and he is clearly violating it. Eventually, I took the middle lane to let Mr. Rich Guy pass.

WPH 7026 - Motorcycle Madness

There's a first for everything - first motorcyclist to feature on this blog!

WPH 7026 - Motorcycle Madness. Not wearing a helmet, and talking on the phone with one hand. Clearly oblivious to the rules of the road and my photo-taking.

HBA 3106 - Red Proton Iswara Taxi

No surprise, the taxi drivers of Malaysia makes an appearance in this blog.

HBA 3106 - Red Proton Iswara Taxi.

Offence: Abruptly cutting me from the right as I was cruising along the middle lane. No signal and I had to hit the brakes to let this guy cut 45 degrees to the leftmost lane.

Date: January 22nd 2010 (Friday)

AGT 1155 - the sporty silver Perodua Myvi

I haven't quite figured how I should title my posts, so I'll just stick with what I have right now.

AGT 1155 - the sporty silver Perodua Myvi. Tail-gating me at high speed as I was approaching the Batu Tiga toll. There was no reason to accelerate towards the toll, and that was what this fella was doing. Tinted car windows so I couldn't see who it was.

Anyway, he got tired of sniffing my ass and decided to take another SmartTAG lane on my left. He ended up being held back by a longer queue. I say bye bye!

Also, a special mention to Mr Chinaman Contractor With A Ponytail in JGE 4336 (silver-whitish Iswara): you inspired me to write this blog. I don't remember what you did, but I just know that you were ridiculous.

Introduction

Hello world. Let me introduce myself:
1. I'm a Malaysian living in the heart of the city
2. I drive a Toyota Vios

One of my new year's resolutions for 2010 is to rid myself of bad driving habits that has been inherited on the busy streets of Kuala Lumpur. I've told myself - no more abrupt cutting of lanes/queues, tail-gating, double-parking, running the red-light & being distracted by one's phone when driving.

I've already broken my resolution twice, so I've decided to start this blog to redeem myself.

This blog is simple. Whenever I see a bad Malaysian driver on the road, I take down his license plate number & whatever other details I can capture, and they will become the Bad Malaysian Driver Of The Day (BMDOTD - pronounced berhm-dot).

I honestly have no idea how this redeems myself, but I want everyone to know that these drivers exist and they may actually be your NEIGHBOURS.

Unfortunately, this blog may last forever.
